International Day of Pink / Colors by Llarowe: Bea Stings!

Image

I am wearing this beautiful polish today in honour of the International Day of Pink! (Check out their website here). If you don’t know what the International Day of Pink is, here is a brief explanation that I have taken directly from their website: “International Day of Pink is a day where communities across the country, across the world, can unite in celebrating diversity and raising awareness to stop homophobic, transphobic & all forms of bullying.”

But I am sure you are wondering what started the International day of Pink movement? I am sure you are wondering “Why pink? What’s the reason behind it?” So here is another piece of information I have copied directly from their website to help you understand: “The International Day of Pink was started in Nova Scotia when 2 straight high school students saw a gay student wearing a pink shirt being bullied. The 2 students intervened, but wanted to do more to prevent homophobic & transphobic bullying. They decided to purchase pink shirts, and a few days later got everyone at school to arrive wearing pink, standing in solidarity. The result was that an entire school stopped homophobic & transphobic bullying. The message was clear: anyone can bully, any can be victimized by bullying, but together we can stop it.”

Of course, it’s important for each of to be aware each and every day of bullying happening around us and in our schools. But, day of pink is a wonderful day to show those all around us who may be facing bullying that they are not alone, that we are here, that there are people who care, and that life is WORTH living.

Day of Pink is an important day for me, because my niece, Gracie, has been bullied since almost the day that she entered the public school system. She has been bullied to the point of self-harm and not wanting to live. She is seven years old. That’s right, you read it correctly, seven. For her to walk into school on a day like today and see hundreds of students and teachers standing behind her is amazing. Though she always needs to know that there are people there for her, this is a day for her to see just HOW many people care. This is a day of empowerment for her. You can read Gracie’s story here.

Now, onto the polish!

As always, please excuse my crappy clean up skills and my short nails/horrible cuticles. They will get better as the days go on šŸ™‚

I received this polish in a prize pack that I won on the Colors by Llarowe facebook page. The package came with 6 awesome polishes. Colors by Llarowe “Bea Stings!” is listed on their website as a “cherry red/pink holographic jelly with holographic micro glitters.” And let me tell you, it is GORGEOUS. In the photos you can see lots of different colour sparkles, pink, red, blue, silver, gold. It just shimmers with holo-y pink goodness, and I LOVE it. šŸ˜€

And now, I will bombard you with pictures to show you all of it’s gorgeousness in different lighting.

I received six polishes from my ISO list:

  • A-England Saint. George
  • Essie Sexy Divide
  • Crows Toes Absolum – Your Potions Master
  • China Glaze Flip Flop Fantasy
  • Gosh Blue Monday
  • MDJ ColorBlends Holographic “Cascading Holo Top Coat” #211

The A-England, Crows Toes, MDJ ColorBlends, and Gosh brands are all brand new to me, I have never tried them, so I am super excited. The China Glaze and the Essie are both colours that I have been swooning over, so I am super pumped to finally have them. I swatched the A-England on a couple of nails and fell in love with the formula instantly, but haven’t done a full mani yet. When I do full manis with all of these polishes, I will be sure to post them for you!

Of course, as you can see from the pictures, this is not the only stuff I received! There was so much more..

  • Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in “Lust” (the purple)
  • Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in “Binge” (the blue)

I have used an Urban Decay shadow before, but have never exclusively used their makeup products. I have heard great things though, and so my ISO list was full of UD products. I swatched these two liners on my wrist, and they were there, without fading, the entire day. I am going to wear one of them to my first day of class tomorrow and I will post pictures later on. šŸ™‚

  • ELF professional concealer brush (to use to clean up my manis :))
  • A glass nail file (woo! I’ve only ever used the crappy dollar store ones, so pumped to have a good quality file, now!)
  • Purple striping tape
  • A PUEEN stamping plate “Pueen25”

I am brand new to stamping, this plate will be my very first, and I am excited to try it out for the first time. I am going to test this out soon – I will have to search tutorials.

Two beautiful pieces of jewelry that I am pumped to wear! The ring broke, but it’s easy enough for me to glue back on šŸ™‚ HOW CUTE IS THAT FOX NECKLACE? Ahh ā¤

And finally a lip balm, cuticle balm, and some samples of stuff that these girls got head on for my tastes.

  • Sweet Tips Lips lip balm in “Pina Colada”
  • Sweet Tips Lips cuticle balm in “Tahitian Vanilla”
  • Hard Candy Sheer Envy face primer
  • Hard Candy eye shadow primer
  • Smashbox Photo Finish foundation primer
  • Bumble and Bumble super rich shampoo and conditioner
  • Agave healing oil treatment

So as you can see, I received a LOT of awesome polish and beauty (and other stuff!) items from five of these wonderful ladies. I can’t believe that I have another SIX ladies who I still get to receive packages from throughout the month! I am super pumped!

I will post swatches and reviews of all these items as I use them šŸ™‚
