August is Indie Month! -Day 2- Fail – Emily de Molly

For day 2 of August is Indie Month (which was yesterday), I intended to blog Emily de Molly “Dark Forces”. However, I applied the polish the night before I was going to take pictures, and by the time I woke up in the morning most of the nails had “popped” off (in whole chunks). So I didn’t have time to redo my nails and take pictures. I did take some awesome bottle shots to share, though, and I will discuss with you my thoughts on this polish.

Emily de Molly is an amazing indie brand based out of Australia. Her polishes are 5-free (Toluene, Formaldehyde, TSF Resin, Camphor and DBP Free), cruelty free, and vegan friendly.

The Emily de Molly big cartel site currently only ships within Australia due to strict postal regulations, but thankfully for us here in North America, she has stockists who keep her stuff in stock all over the world! North Americans can currently buy Emily de Molly polishes from Nail Polish Canada (ships to Canada and the U.S. from Canada), Llarowe (ships worldwide from the U.S.), MeiMei`s Signatures (ships worldwide from Singapore), and Femme Fatale (ships worldwide from Australia).

I will be totally honest with you – I have a hard time working with this polish. However, the results are worth it. Perhaps someday I will be able to share with you some amazing swatches, but for now, check them out on the EdM website.

EdM Dark Forces has a black jelly base, with silver holo dots and hex with small irridescent glitter. Due to the size of the biggest glitters, they do sink, which means this polish requires fishing for glitters. The end result, however, is totally worth it.

Most people use 3 coats of this polish to make it opaque, but I like to use one coat of a black base (my favourite is China Glaze `Liquid Leather`), and then 2 coats of Dark Forces. It is important to let the polish dry at least partially between coats, otherwise the previous coat will smudge and create a mess.

I am not blaming the polish for my `pop off` fingernails, instead my base coat – Glisten & Glow `Stuck On Blu`. I love G&G`s top coat, but the base coat isn`t very good. I am not sure why I went with this base for this polish rather than my Duri 2. Back to Duri for my next mani!

I will be back later today with a review of Rainbow Honey`s `Mint Flavour`.

Cheers,

Taylor

Disclaimer: I purchased this polish on my own through Nail Polish Canada.com. This polish was not sent to me for review, and, as always, my reviews are always honest.

Pahlish Lady Adelaide Duo

Good evening ladies (and possibly gentlemen!)

I wanted to share with you an awesome prize that I won from my favourite indie brand “Pahlish”. I entered the contest through sharing through the facebook page, and I got lucky with one of her prizes and won the “Lady Adelaide Duo”! This duo included two polishes: “Ideas of Things” and “Colder Than a Wave”.

I apologize the pictures are not perfect. I am new at this and still getting used to how to take the best picture for swatching and showing the best colour in the polishes. Here are my swatches…

The gray/blue/silver polish on the left is “Ideas of Things” and the glitter is “Colder Than a Wave”

Please excuse the pre-cleanup photos. I was so excited when I received the prize that I had to take pictures as soon as I could to share with the ladies on my polish group on facebook! I plan on uploading better photos to this post when I redo my nails with these two polishes!

xoxo,

Taylor

Rainbow Honey Summer of 199X Part 1

Good afternoon, all, and happy Sunday!

I am writing this post to share with you another amazing birthday gift I received from one of the ladies in my birthday group. This time I received the Rainbow Honey “Summer of 199X Part 1” collection mini set, and I could not be more excited! I have never owned or used a Rainbow Honey before and so this is very exciting for me. This birthday group has been a wonderful way for me to get to try all sorts of new brands that I always wanted to but never had a chance to! I will post pictures of the gift here, and on another blog post I will do some swatches!
